In 2002, Philip Hargreaves, Freya’s father, began experiencing persistent digestive problems, and after a series of medical tests, it was discovered that he had terminal esophageal cancer, with only six months to live.

Due to his strong connection with his daughter, Philip decided to write nine letters that would be delivered to Freya throughout her life. Eight of these letters were given to her on her birthdays, and one special letter was written for her wedding day.

Philip passed away at the age of 53 when Freya was just 11 years old. After all these years, on her wedding day, Freya’s mother read the letter written by her father, moving everyone to tears.

In addition to the letter, Freya also wore a diamond necklace given to her by her father, making him even more present on her special day. Here’s what the letter said:

“I wish I could be by your side, the proudest father in the world, to walk you down the aisle to the man you love and into the next chapter of your life. Today is your day; enjoy everything about it. Laugh and cry. Be happy and confident. Face everything head-on. You will succeed in your life together. You have given me some of the proudest moments of my life with your sense of humor, intelligence, understanding, and caring nature. Never change. I love you forever, Daddy.”
